Fine Art Printing
A print is the final expression of the image that I’ve conceived when taking the photograph, and I view the craftsmanship involved with printing to be as important as the original composition of the photograph. I personally print all of my images. All prints are limited editions. The size of each edition is specified in the description. Prints are signed, numbered, and dated verso.
Platinum/Palladium Prints
My black and white prints are created using variations on historic processes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Watercolor paper is hand-coated with a light sensitive solution of platinum and palladium salts. When dry, the paper is sandwiched with the negative and exposed to ultraviolet light. This is a contact process and requires a negative that is the same size as the print on the paper. After exposure the print is passed through a number of baths that develop and clear the print.
Platinum and palladium prints are known for rich blacks and subtle mid-tones. The process creates prints that are the most stable and long-lived of photographic prints. I enjoy the process since it offers an additional avenue for my artistic expression. Each print is truly hand-crafted and one-of-a-kind.
Color Images: Archival Pigment Prints
Color images are archival pigment inkjet prints.A pigment print is made using pigment-based inks as opposed to the dye-based inks found in many inkjet printers. The advantages of pigment inks are longevity and color stability.
My color prints are made using an Epson SureColor P800, which uses Epson UltraChrome HD pigment-based inks. I use Canson Editon Etching paper, which is a 100% cotton, museum-grade paper with a matte finish and a subtle texture.
